There have been a few slight changes made to the submissions guidelines, and the page itself has been formatted so that is a bit easier to read. Please read the guidelines before you submit your work.
I apologize for the one-day delay in posting this, but there were some internet connectivity issues that prevented me from getting my laptop online. Anyway, these posts are designed to give you a better feel for who the Thoughtsmith editors are, what they like to read, what they like to do in their spare time, [...]
Another look back at poem in our 1.1 issue. Enjoy!
—
Sorry to admit my nature,
I saw the lovers and the astronomy
Between them, and with a memory
Concentrating on the old prey
I brought to bed, I had to disappear.
In honor of National Poetry Month, and because issue 1.1 was so long ago, I’d like to give some of the work from it a chance to be seen by fresh eyes. That said, here’s Stuart Bartow’s “Translating Storm”:
—
Rain and wind, starless night.
Eyes closed
to the gusts arms and wild hair
heaving
against the walls windowpanes
until the storm enters inside and I am in
the gale
then gale inside me. I am on a black ship.
We’ve been talking about it for months, and here it is: the Thoughtsmith literary blog. Over the next few weeks, starting next Monday, each of the editors will be posting introductions, posts which will serve to give you a better feel for each of our editors beyond the information contained in their bios. Next week, Erienne, Jonathan, and I will be posting, and in the week following that, Seth and Kat introduce themselves. In honor of National Poetry Month, we will also be providing some of our favorite poems for your enjoyment.
In addition, I would like to remind all of our readers and possible submittors that we’re committed to expanding Thoughtsmith’s reading base through every medium possible. We know that your work is important to you, and we want to assure you that our continued goal is the widest distribution possible of the works contained within our issues. In 2011, we had over 16,000 unique visitors from all over the globe, and we want to expand that number to over 25,000 in 2012 (and up from there).
